From sourcing to finishing — our integrated beef value chain in action.
Hafray manages every stage of the beef value chain — from pastoral sourcing to premium market delivery.
We source underfinished Boran steers from pastoral households and primary markets across Isiolo, Marsabit, Wajir, Garissa, and Tana River. Our trusted network of agents operates along key cattle trade routes into Ethiopia and across North Eastern Kenya, ensuring consistent supply even in challenging seasons.
Over 100 acres of irrigated fodder production provide year-round feed security for our fattening operation. We grow white and yellow maize, sorghum, Rhodes grass, African Foxtail, sunflower, and sugar graze — storing silage and baled hay for dry season resilience. Our second production cycle yielded 46 tonnes of sorghum silage and 1,800 bales of hay.
Our 350-acre Kinna farm features modern feedlot infrastructure with weighing scales, hay barns, hay balers, and feed choppers — all powered by solar energy. Cattle undergo structured fattening programmes targeting FAQ+ grade and 200kg+ carcass weights, enabling access to premium buyers across Kenya.
We supply live animals and carcasses directly to institutional buyers, butcheries in Meru and Tharaka, hotels, hospitals, and premium Nairobi offtakers. Our growing relationships with terminal market buyers are opening new premium market channels across Kenya. Target by 2030: 100+ institutional clients and 50+ butcheries.
